I spent some time playing this week. Playing with my kids, and playing with my camera. I am trying to use it when I can throughout the day to practice thinking on my feet. Obviously I am never going to do a shoot for a client in a messy living room, but at least it gets me even more familiar with my new camera, and gives me a good excuse to take more pictures of my precious babies that are growing big before my eyes.
These first few pictures were taken at a Kleinsasser dance party. We put on some loud music, turned the lights off, and had a great time! They loved it, and I got to practice using my off camera flash in a dark room (since I rarely get to practice for a wedding reception). You can’t really tell, but the room was very dark, and my two flashes are giving all the light that you see.
Next up, practice using Kelvin color temperature with natural daylight in the house. Maybe I need more practice with this since I had to convert some to black and white? Hmmm…
Lastly, I was perfecting my lighting for my white backdrop since I have another headshot client coming tomorrow. I asked Cammy to jump up on my stool and I took two pictures of her. These are the two I took. If God had only given me one blessing in life, and it was Cammy, it would have been far more than I deserve.
As much as I love being a photographer, my first job will always be mom. I couldn’t be more grateful. If I fail at the photographer thing, but I succeed at raising kids that know how much their momma loves them, I will consider myself as having the most successful career in the world.
