Many of you requested to see pictures of our basement since we have spent much time (and money!) to make it a pleasant place to hang out. I don’t have “before” pictures. Once my head is in a project, I don’t take them time to do anything besides get to the final outcome. Apparently this time that meant not taking pictures of the boring basement before I worked on it.
As Pete and I were driving back to Denver after Christmas, we discussed our upcoming year and some things we might like to do. We decided to go on and finish the bathroom in our basement so that guests would have a more comfortable stay at “The Kleinsasser Inn.” It was a pricey project, but hopefully it will add value to our house when we eventually sell it.
Having a nice bathroom then prompted us to want to make the rest of the basement nicer as well! I re-did the decor in the guest bedroom to reflect a Colorado theme. I also tore out some random cabinets with a countertop that were on one wall and re-painted everything.
Our smallish basement now contains our guest room, guest bathroom, storage room, toy room, family/hangout room, and both of our offices. It makes our house feel a lot bigger to use this space! Enjoy the tour!
The view coming down the stairs:
OK, then continuing on to the right, which is left when you come downstairs (are you confused yet?!), is the lounge/watch movie area/offices/gym. We do a lot of things in a very small space.
A look back toward the stairs/el roomo de toys:
I probably spent half of my time trying to figure out where to put the BEAST of the elliptical trainer. So here it is. If you stay in our guest bedroom and you hear heavy breathing outside your window, I’m not creepin on you, just burning some calories. Kidding – I will keep my elliptical sessions to days we do not have company.
And so begins the tour of the guest room. I should just keep these a secret and say you have to come visit me to see it. But I am feeling generous today.
This is my favorite part! I totally stole this idea from the Pottery Barn catalog. Found these frames at Goodwill and replaced the pictures with my own pictures of the mountains.
LOVE the message board. I wonder what I will write when YOU come to visit?! As I you can see, I am pretty creative with my messages...
The entrance to the bathroom off the bedroom! This door used to go to a cold, dark room where we stored our crap. Now you can take a crap in it! Bahaha, I crack myself up.
And now, drumroll please, the bathroom! Bob the Builder did a fine job.
Welp, there you go! Hope you enjoyed the tour! We are so excited to have visitors, so let us know if you ever want to stay at the Kleinsasser Bed and Breakfast!
