When it comes to photographing your newborn, and this special time in your life, there’s no right or wrong way to do it! Everyone has a different vision or idea of how to best capture this time. If you aren’t sure which session would be right for your family, here are a few options that I offer, with some explanations on each, so you can see which session feels like the one that is right for you!
This is the session I built my business on, because not many photographers are trained in posing newborns, or have the means to so (a specific studio setup and allllllllllll the wraps and props). This session is done within 2 weeks of your baby being born, to be able to capture how tiny and tightly curled they are. The session is about 2 hours long, with the first half being baby only, while you relax, then the second half focused on sibling, parent and family images. You don’t have to bring anything – I provide it all! You come away with a gallery that’s about half baby only, with perfect posed cute shots on solid backdrops or in baskets, bowls, etc. Here are a few examples of a posed session:

This session is my new current obsession, because it’s a bit more relaxed. It’s about 1.5-2 hours and takes place in my studio. It’s great for older newborns (1-2 months), which gives you time to feel a bit more like yourself, and to give the family members more time to adjust to their new role. It’s great for capturing more eyes open shots as well. The session includes baby-only photos, but the focus is on the family, and the different connections. I provide everything, and you just show up with your family, ready to snuggle and love on your new baby! Here is an example of a recent session I did like this:

This session is about as relaxed as it gets! I come to your home for about 1 hour, and get a variety of shots in several rooms of your home. Think snuggling on couch with your new baby, snuggling in your bed, some shots of you holding your baby in the newly decorated nursery. This is a perfect session if you love the aesthetic of your home, and you want to remember those early days with your new family member. I can bring a few wraps or bows, etc, but can’t bring or provide much else (no props, etc.). Here are a few examples of an in-home session:

This session is perfect if you truly only want shots of your baby, with no parent or family images. It only takes about 30 minutes in my studio. Baby is wrapped for the session, but I use a variety or wraps and props in that time. You come away with a few gorgeous, artistic images of your baby for announcements, or just to look back on and remember! Here are a few examples of a baby-only session:

Reach out through the contact form on my website if you are ready to book your session! I take a deposit to hold your due date, then we schedule the actual session once your baby is here. I can’t wait to capture this special time for you!
